Februar 1946 in Oulu, Finnland) ist ein finnischer Politiker und derzeitiges Mitglied des Europäischen Parlaments für das finnische Linksbündnis, als Teil der Konföderalen Fraktion der Vereinigten Europäischen Linken. Seppänen machte 1971 sein Staatsexamen in Wirtschaftswissenschaften. Von 1970 bis 1987 war er Journalist bei der Rundfunkanstalt Yleisradio. Anschließend wurde er Mitglied des finnischen Parlaments. 1996 wechselte er in das Europäische Parlament. (de)

- Esko Olavi Seppänen, född 15 februari 1946 i Uleåborg, är en finländsk politiker. Seppänen blev ekonomie kandidat 1971 och var redaktör vid Finlands Rundradio 1970–1987. Han var representant för Demokratiska förbundet för Finlands folk (DFFF), senare Vänsterförbundet, i Finlands riksdag 1987–1996 och, trots sin EU-kritiska inställning, för Vänsterförbundet i Europaparlamentet 1996–2009. Han har i ett stort antal böcker och artiklar kritiserat det kapitalistiska systemet och har energiskt har motarbetat ett finländskt medlemskap i Nato. Han skildrade sin första tid i Europaparlamentet i dagsboksform i Meppielämää (1997). (sv)

He was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 1996 to 2009, and a member of the Finnish parliament from 1987 to 1996. In the European Parliament Seppänen was Member of the Bureau of the European United Left–Nordic Green Left and sat on the European Parliament's Committee on Budgets. He also was a substitute for the Committee on Budgetary Control and the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy. (en)
