Franco Leoni (24 October 1864 – 8 February 1949) was an Italian opera composer. After training in Milan, he made most of his career in England, composing for Covent Garden and West End theatres. He is best known for the opera L'Oracolo, written for Covent Garden but taken up successfully by the Metropolitan Opera in New York. In addition to his operas, Leoni wrote several cantatas and oratorios and many ballads and other songs. He also worked as a conductor in London, both in the concert hall and in the theatre.

Milanès de naixement, però emigrat durant un llarg període a Anglaterra, va ser el director de la Capella de la Reina a Londres.   • Franco Leoni (* 24. Oktober 1864 in Mailand; † 8. Februar 1949 in Dover) war ein italienischer Komponist. Leoni studierte am Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Mailand bei Amilcare Ponchielli und . Nach dem Erfolg seiner ersten Oper Raggio di luna (1888) ging er nach England. Dort wurden mehrere seiner Opern an der Covent Garden Opera uraufgeführt, deren erfolgreichste L'Oracolo war. Diese wurde 1905 mit Antonio Scotti in der Hauptrolle uraufgeführt, der sie ab 1915 auch an der Metropolitan Opera sang. 1917 kehrte er nach Italien zurück, wo er noch weitere Opern zur Aufführung brachte. Neben Opern komponierte Leoni auch einige sakrale Chorwerke. (de)
