Gregory Scott Tony (born 1978) is an American law enforcement officer, and since 2019 (when he was appointed by Florida governor Ron DeSantis) the 17th Sheriff of Broward County, Florida. When he was 14 years old, Tony shot and killed a neighbor, and was found innocent on account of self-defense. In 2003, Tony applied to the Tallahassee Police Department, but was rejected for employment after he admitted to using LSD; thereafter, he omitted that admission from an application to the Coral Springs Police Department. In 2020, the Broward branch of the International Union of Police Associations announced a vote of no-confidence by its officers in Tony, and subsequently Tony won election to his office in Broward County, which he had previously held by appointment.
