| - Intel 8255 je integrovaný obvod z rodiny procesoru Intel, navržený pro procesor Intel 8085, používán byl ale i u procesorů Intel 8086 a jeho nástupců a u procesorů Zilog Z80. Jedná se obvod poskytující tři paralelní osmibitové brány (obvykle označované jako brána A, brána B a brána C). Podobným obvodem v rodině procesoru Z80 je obvod Z80 PIO. Obvod je použit i v počítačích Amstrad CPC. Je také základem několika interfaců používaných u počítačů Sinclair ZX Spectrum a kompatibilních. (cs)

Имеет три 8-разрядных канала ввода-вывода, 8-разрядный канал для подключения к шине данных, два адресных входа. Третий канал ввода-вывода может быть разделён на два по 4 бита. - Der Intel 8255 (auch i8255) ist ein programmierbarer paralleler Ein/Ausgabebaustein, der primär für den Intel-8085-Prozessor entwickelt wurde. Später wurde er auch mit dem Intel 8086 und seinen Nachfolgern eingesetzt. Der Baustein wird im 40-Pin-DIL-Gehäuse geliefert. Er wurde u. a. an AMD, Mitsubishi Electric, National Semiconductor, NEC und Siemens lizenziert. Seine größte Bekanntheit hat der Intel 8255 durch den Einsatz im Parallel Port der IBM-PCs erlangt. Er wurde aber auch in PCs wie dem SV-328 und den MSX-Computern eingesetzt.

- The Intel 8255 (or i8255) Programmable Peripheral Interface (PPI) chip was developed and manufactured by Intel in the first half of the 1970s for the Intel 8080 microprocessor. The 8255 provides 24 parallel input/output lines with a variety of programmable operating modes. The functionality of the 8255 is now mostly embedded in larger VLSI processing chips as a sub-function. A CMOS version of the 8255 is still being made by Renesas but mostly used to expand the I/O of microcontrollers. (en)
