| - The Lancia ECV (standing for Experimental Composite Vehicle) was a prototype Group S rally car developed by the Italian manufacturer Lancia to replace the Lancia Delta S4 in World Rally Championship competition for the 1988 season. However, Group B as well as Group S cars were banned from competition by the FIA in late 1986 due to safety concerns and the ECV never raced. Lancia instead developed the Group A Lancia Delta. The car originally produced over 600 horsepower (448 kW) from a 1759 cc twin-turbocharged engine. This engine, christened TriFlux, was built in an unusual fashion; the valves were crossed (for each side of the cylinder there was an intake and an exhaust valve), so that the two turbochargers could be fed with two separate manifolds. A single manifold carried the intake air (hence the name, from the three separate air ducts). However, Group S rules would have artificially limited the car's output to 300 hp (224 kW) to limit speeds. The car made extensive use of the composite materials Kevlar and carbon fibre to save weight and add strength. Overall the car weighed 930 kg (2,050 lb). The car also featured a new Martini colour-scheme, replacing the S4's white bodywork with red-based scheme. Lancia used the new scheme on its competition cars in 1987. The restored ECV1, rebuilt from the original parts, was displayed at the Rally-Legend Event on 7-8-9 October 2010 in San-Marino, by the owner, Giuseppe Volta. An original TriFlux engine has been re-prepared, with the help of the original designer, Ing. Claudio Lombardi, and modern Turbo-engine preparation expert, Claudio Berri. - La Lancia ECV (pour Experimental Composite Vehicle) est un prototype de rallye prévu pour remplacer la Lancia Delta S4 en Groupe S qui devait prendre le relais du Groupe B, la FIA voulant encourager des designs innovants et futuristes en n'exigeant qu'un nombre minimal de voitures à produire pour l'homologation (10 exemplaires contre 200 en Groupe B). En contrepartie, pour éviter l'escalade à la puissance, les moteurs ne devaient pas délivrer plus de 300 chevaux. Les constructeurs engagés en rallye se lancent immédiatement dans le développement de voitures pour la future catégorie. Lancia, pour qui ce nouveau règlement est l'occasion de refaire « le coup de la Stratos et de la 037 » (produire une bête de course destinée à marquer les esprits tant par ses performances que par son aspect) construit l'ECV. Les événements dramatiques de 1985 et 1986 (décès d'Attilio Bettega et de Toivonen) imposent un retour à des règles plus sécuritaires et la FIA renonce au Groupe S. Le modèle d'origine développe 600 ch grâce à un moteur turbo-compressé. Nommé Triflux, il est construit d'une manière inhabituelle : les soupapes sont croisés (pour chaque côté du cylindre il y a une soupape d'admission et une soupape d'échappement), de sorte que les deux turbos soient alimentés par deux collecteurs séparés. Un collecteur unique réalise l'admission d'air (d'où le nom, les trois conduits d'air séparés). La voiture fait un large usage des matériaux composites comme le Kevlar et la fibre de carbone pour gagner du poids et résistance. Le prototype, reconstruit à partir des pièces d'origine par Giuseppe Volta, est présenté lors du Rallye-Legend en octobre 2010 à Saint-Marin. Un moteur original TriFlux a été préparé, avec l'aide du concepteur originel Claudio Lombardi et de l'expert en préparation moteur et turbo, Claudio Berri. (fr)

- De Lancia ECV (staand voor Experimental Composite Vehicle) is een prototype rallyauto van Lancia bedoeld voor de Groep S-klasse. Deze moest in 1988 de Lancia Delta S4 opvolgen in het Wereldkampioenschap Rally. Groep S werd in 1986 echter tegelijkertijd met de Groep B-klasse geschrapt vanwege veiligheidsredenen, waardoor de auto nooit competitief in actie is geweest. De auto maakte gebruik van een 1759cc twin-turbo-motor welke 600 pk produceerde. In Groep S zou dit beperkt worden tot maximaal 1200cc en 300 pk. Lancia maakte veelvuldig gebruik van kevlar en koolstofvezel om het gewicht te beperken; uitkomend op totaal 930 kg. Bijna vijfentwintig jaar later, in oktober 2010, werd er voor het eerst publiekelijk gereden met de auto tijdens de Rally Legend in Italië, een rallyevenement voor historische auto's.
