Numerous clashes involving Indigenous people (on the continent "Australia") occurred during and after a wave of mass immigration of Europeans into the continent, which began in the late 18th century and lasted until the early 20th century. These clashes resulted in significant numbers of deaths – and are considered to be a contributing factor in the decline of the Indigenous population during an ongoing process of mass immigration and clearing of land for agricultural purposes.
