The Department of the Litoral, also known as the Atacama Department and commonly known as the Bolivian coast, was the description of the extent of the Pacific coast of the Atacama Desert included in the territory of Bolivia from its inception in 1825 until 1879, when it was lost to Chile.

Jeho rozloha byla 154 393 km² a v roce 1879 v něm žilo přibližně 15 000 obyvatel. Hlavním městem bylo do roku 1875 a pak Antofagasta. Januar 1867 erhob Präsident José Mariano Melgarejo das Territorium, welches zuvor eine Provinz des früher wesentlich größeren Departamento Potosí war, in den Rang eines Departamentos. Wenige Jahre später hatte Bolivien die Kontrolle über das Gebiet im Salpeterkrieg von 1879 bis 1884 verloren. Seither erhebt das Land Ansprüche auf das Territorium und bezeichnet es als sein zehntes Departamento. (es) Litoral (Spaans voor "Kust") was in de 19e eeuw een provincie van Bolivia. Als gevolg van de Salpeteroorlog moest Bolivia de provincie afstaan aan Chili. Tegenwoordig wordt het gebied gevormd door de regio Antofagasta. Vanaf die tijd heeft Bolivia geen open verbinding meer met de oceaan. Bolivia mocht nog wel een spoorlijn aanleggen die van La Paz naar de havenplaats Arica liep, waar Bolivia tegen betaling gebruik van kon maken. Sindsdien ligt de Boliviaanse Marine in het Titicacameer. (nl)
