- L'opération Red Wings (« Ailes rouges », en référence aux Red Wings de Détroit) est une opération de contre-insurrection menée par quatre membres de la SEAL Delivery Vehicule Team 1 (SDV 1) détaché au SEAL Team 10, le 28 juin 2005, contre les Talibans de la province de Kounar en Afghanistan. Ces derniers, à cette occasion, infligèrent à l'armée américaine sa défaite alors la plus coûteuse en vies humaines depuis le début de la guerre. Trois des SEAL sont tués durant l'opération initiale, ainsi que 16 militaires américains des Special Operations Forces dans le crash de leur hélicoptère alors qu'ils tentaient d'aider les hommes au sol. Marcus Luttrell fut le seul survivant américain grâce notamment à la protection offerte par des villageois locaux. (fr)
