Phil Mellor (Phil 'Mez' Mellor, died 7 June 1989) was a Yorkshire, England, based motorcycle racer. His career included racing on both road and race circuits. Mellor, from Shelley, near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, died after an accident at Doran's Bend during the 1989 TT races on the Isle of Man. Road race results included three wins, seven podiums and a total of 34 appearances at the Isle of Man TT. He also competed at the , Ulster GP, won the 1978 Newcomers Lightweight Manx Grand Prix and scored a fifth place at Macau.

In 1987 werd hij samen met opgenomen in het semi-fabrieksteam van Heron-Suzuki, waar hij ook in 1988 bleef toen James Whitham en het team aanvulden. His race results included the 1984 TT Formula 2 Championship aboard a Yamaha 350, 125cc Gold Star 1981 Championship aboard a Honda, 1300cc Production 1986 British championship on a Suzuki, back to back 750cc Production championships in 1986 and 1987 for Suzuki, 1979 British 250cc Championship, Avon Roadrunner Production 500cc championship on a Yamaha 350 and back to back Honda 125cc championship victories in 1980 and 1981. Road race results included three wins, seven podiums and a total of 34 appearances at the Isle of Man TT. He also competed at the , Ulster GP, won the 1978 Newcomers Lightweight Manx Grand Prix and scored a fifth place at Macau. The popular Yorkshireman has a Trophy named in his honour at the Gold Cup races held at Oliver's Mount, a road-based circuit through parkland near the Yorkshire east coast holiday resort of Scarborough. Zoals bijna alle rijders in de TT van Man was Phil Mellor als amateur begonnen in de Manx Grand Prix, die eveneens op de Snaefell Mountain Course werd verreden. Toch was het aanvankelijk helemaal niet zijn bedoeling om op dit gevaarlijke circuit te rijden. Op 5 juni 1978 stond Phil met zijn vriend in een tuin bij Bray Hill toen voor hun ogen de zijspanrijders Malcolm Hobson en verongelukten. Mellor zei toen: "That's it! I'm never going to race here". Toch startte hij in het najaar in de 250cc-Newcomers Lightweight Race van de Manx Grand Prix, die hij meteen wist te winnen. In het volgende jaar werd hij derde in de 350cc-Junior Race. Phil promoveerde in 1980 naar de Isle of Man TT, die in het voorjaar (eind mei-begin juni) werd georganiseerd, maar ondanks zijn aanvankelijke aversie was hij zo enthousiast over de Snaefell Mountain Course dat hij ook nog een aantal jaren aan de Manx Grand Prix bleef deelnemen. Zijn voorliefde voor stratencircuits bleek ook uit zijn successen op het Dundrod Circuit (in de buurt van Belfast), waar hij drie keer de Ulster Grand Prix won, The Triangle in Noord-Ierland, waar hij drie podiumplaatsen in de North West 200 scoorde en de Grand Prix van Macau, waar hij vijfde werd. In 1987 werd hij samen met opgenomen in het semi-fabrieksteam van Heron-Suzuki, waar hij ook in 1988 bleef toen James Whitham en het team aanvulden.
