- Das Bistum Worms (lat. Episcopatus Wormatiensis) war eine katholische Diözese mit Sitz in Worms (für die Diözese lat. auch Wormatiensis Dioecesis). Das in der Spätantike begründete Bistum erreichte in der Karolingerzeit und im Hochmittelalter einen Höhepunkt an Macht und Einfluss. Bischofskirche war der Wormser Dom, einer der drei rheinischen Kaiserdome. Das Hochstift Worms hatte auch die weltliche Gewalt über den Lobdengau, ein kleines Gebiet um Ladenburg, inne. Durch die Reformation verlor das Bistum einen Großteil seiner Pfarreien und wurde zur Zeit der Französischen Revolution um 1800 aufgelöst. (de)

Cette mission d'évangélisation fondée sous le Bas Empire connut son apogée au haut Moyen Âge. Le siège du gouvernement était la cathédrale de Worms, une des trois cathédrales impériales rhénanes. La principauté de Worms exerçait son pouvoir temporel sur le , une petite région autour de Ladenburg. - The Prince-Bishopric of Worms, was an ecclesiastical principality of the Holy Roman Empire. Located on both banks of the Rhine around Worms just north of the union of that river with the Neckar, it was largely surrounded by the Electorate of the Palatinate. Worms had been the seat of a bishop from Roman times. From the High Middle Ages on, the prince-bishops' secular jurisdiction no longer included the city of Worms, which was an Imperial Free City (the Free Imperial City of Worms) and which became officially Protestant during the Reformation. The prince-bishops however retained jurisdiction over the Cathedral of Worms inside the city. (en)
- Worms was een tot de Boven-Rijnse Kreits behorend bisdom binnen het Heilige Roomse Rijk. Misschien sinds 346, maar zeker sinds 614 is er een bisschopszetel te Worms. In de achtste eeuw wordt het bisdom bij de kerkprovincie Mainz gevoegd. De graven van Saarbrücken zijn tot 1156 voogd over het bisdom, daarna de paltsgraven. Het lukte de bisschop maar een klein gebied als prinsbisdom te verwerven, waarvan de residentie te Ladenburg werd gevestigd. Na 1648 was het prinsbisdom meestal in personele unie verbonden met het keurvorstendom Mainz of het keurvorstendom Trier. (nl)
