(ru) La Somaliland Camel Corps fou una unitat de l'exèrcit britànic amb base a la Somàlia Britànica. El seu mitjà de transport era el camell, basic al territori. El seu precedents fou la "Somaliland Camel Constabulary" creada al començar el segle xx, que va lluitar contra el cap rebel Diiriye Guure. El 1913 va quedar sota comandament del coronel Richard Corfield. El 9 d'agost de 1913 foren derrotats a Ruuga (Dulmadooba), prop d'Oodweyne, a la part oriental de la Somàlia Britànica i el coronel Corfield va morir a la lluita. El 12 de març de 1914 els britànics van constituir formalment la Somaliland Camel Corps. (ca) Le Somaliland Camel Corps est une unité militaire britannique montée sur dromadaires, créée dans le Somaliland alors sous protectorat du Royaume-Uni, et composée de soldats somaliens encadrés par des officiers britanniques. Le gouvernement britannique avait été effet délimité ses zones d'influence en 1888 avec la France et en 1894 avec l'Italie. Un accord analogue fut signé en 1897 avec l'Éthiopie. Cette unité méhariste, créée en 1912, est transformée en régiment mécanisé en 1943 puis dissoute en septembre 1944 à la suite d’une mutinerie des askaris en juin 1944. (fr)
