  • Is í Eaglais Choláisteach San Nioclás an eaglais mheánaoiseach is mó in Éirinn atá go fóill in úsáid mar eaglais pharóiste. Tógadh í timpeall na bliana 1320 ar shuíomh séipéil a bhí ann roimhe sin. Ag an am sin, tógadh an chórlann, an chroslann agus corp na heaglaise. Le linn na séiú aois déag, nuair a bhí rath mór ar chúrsaí tráchta na Gaillimhe, méadaíodh an eaglais agus cuireadh taobhroinn thuaidh agus theas uirthi; tógadh an chroslann theas, Séipéal na Naomh Shacraiminte, agus an cloigtheach. Tá an eaglais coiscrithe do San Nioclás, Easpag Mhíora san Áise Bheag sa 4ú céad. Cé gur mar naomh-phatrún na bpáistí is fearr a bhfuil cáil air anois, le linn na meánaoiseanna is mó a bhí cáil air mar phátrún na mairnéalach. Is é sin an chúis gur gnáth go mbíonn eaglaisí coiscrithe dó i gcalaf (ga)
(it)
