The Serapion Brethren (Die Serapionsbrüder) is the name of a literary and social circle, formed in Berlin in 1818 by the German romantic writer E. T. A. Hoffmann and several of his friends. The Serapion Brethren also is the title of a four-volume collection of Hoffmann's novellas and fairytales that appeared in 1819, 1820, and 1821.

November 1818 traf sich der Zirkel jedoch erneut, und man einigte sich auf den Namen Serapionsbrüder. Mit dem in den Jahren 1819 bis 1821 erschienenen Zyklus von Erzählungen und Märchen Die Serapionsbrüder, der gleichzeitig eine Bilanz seines literarischen Schaffens darstellte, setzte Hoffmann seinen Serapionsbrüdern ein Denkmal. Cyklem nowel, opowiadań i bajek z lat od 1819 do 1821 o tej samej nazwie, Hoffmann uhonorował pamięć kręgu jego przyjaciół. Zbiór był jednocześnie ukoronowaniem oraz rodzajem bilansu jego twórczości.
