The VT180 is a personal computer produced by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) of Maynard, Massachusetts. Introduced in early 1982, the CP/M-based VT180 was DEC's entry-level microcomputer. "VT180" is the unofficial name for the combination of the VT100 computer terminal and VT18X option. The VT18X includes a 2 MHz Zilog Z80 microprocessor and 64K RAM on two circuit boards that fit inside the terminal, and two external 5.25-inch floppy disk drives with room for two more in an external enclosure. The VT180 was codenamed "Robin".

Somit konnte er wahlweise als Terminal oder als Computer verwendet werden. Der Computer lief unter dem Betriebssystem CP/M, Version 2.2, und war daher in der Lage, die damals verbreitete Software (ggf. nach Adaption) zu verarbeiten, beispielsweise WordStar, SuperCalc, MBASIC oder dBASE. Mit dem Ende der VT100-Serie wurde auch das Modell VT180 eingestellt. Ein direktes Nachfolgemodell für diesen Computer kam nicht auf den Markt. Mittlerweile waren leistungsfähigere Computer auf Basis der 16-Bit-Mikroprozessoren Intel 8088 oder Intel 8086 verfügbar. Jedoch beinhaltete der danach hergestellte DEC-Computer „Rainbow 100“ mit Z80- und 8088-CPU die meisten VT180-Funktionalitäten als Untermenge. Das VT180/Robin-Diskettenformat konnte nicht nur vom Rainbow 100 verarbeitet werden, sondern auch von einigen anderen Computersystemen, wie den ersten tragbaren Computern Osborne 1 und Kaypro II oder später auch dem IBM-PC unter dem Betriebssystem MS-DOS mit Zusatzsoftware. The VT180 was codenamed "Robin". Digital later released a full-fledged personal computer known as the Rainbow 100 as the successor to Robin. When Digital ended the VT100 family, it also discontinued the VT180. No direct replacement was offered, although the Rainbow 100 eventually provided a superset of Robin's functionality. (en)
