- Aburi ist sowohl der Name einer Ethnie als auch der von mindestens zwei Städten in Ghana. Die Ethnie bildete einst einen Teil der ursprünglichen Bevölkerung Akwamus und Aburi-Häuptlinge waren auch zugegen, als man 1731 mit dem Bund von Abotakyi das Königreich Akwapim gründete. Eine Stadt Aburi befindet sich bei 5° 3′ N, 1° 47′ W in der Nähe von Takoradi, eine andere Stadt Aburi befindet sich bei 5° 51′ N, 0° 11′ W an den Ausläufern der gleichnamigen, 400–460 m hohen Aburi-Hügelkette in der Greater Accra Region. Die Aburi-Hügelkette gehört mit zur Formation der Akwapim-Togo-Kette. Letztgenannter Ort liegt ca. 28 km nördlich von Accra auf der Ausfahrtstraße nach Koforidua und knapp südlich von Mampong in den Akwapim-Bergen. Etwa 20.000 Menschen leben in dem Ort auf einer Höhe von 457 Metern. (de)
