Corruption in Bangladesh has been a continuing problem. According to all major ranking institutions, Bangladesh routinely finds itself among the most corrupt countries in the world. Transparency International's 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index ranks the country in 147th place out of 180 countries in the Index, where the country in the Index whose public sector is perceived to be most corrupt is ranked 180. The public sectors conducted by the Government are the most corrupted sectors of the country. According to Transparency International (TI), Bangladesh slipped two places in the Global Corruption Perception Index ranking in 2020 and was ahead only of Afghanistan in tackling graft among its South Asian neighbours.
