Nikolsburg (Yiddish: ניקאלשפורג) is the name of a Hasidic dynasty descending from R. Shmuel Shmelke ha-Levi Horowitz (1726–1778), who is amongst the most important figures to early Polish Hasidism. R. Shmelke was a leading disciple of R. Dov Ber of Mezeritch, the primary disciple of the Baal Shem Tov, the founder of Hasidism. From 1773 to 1778, he served as the Chief Rabbi of Moravia, in the city of Nikolsburg, from where the dynasty gets its name.
