- The House of Strozzi is the name of an ancient (later noble) Florentine family, who like their great rivals the Medici family, began in banking before moving into politics. Until its exile from Florence in 1434, the Strozzi family was by far the richest in the city, and was rivaled only by the Medici family, who ultimately took control of the government and ruined the Strozzi both financially and politically. This political and financial competition was the origin of the Strozzi-Medici rivalry. Later, while the Medici ruled Florence, the Strozzi family ruled Siena, which Florence attacked, causing great animosity between the two families. Soon afterward, the Strozzi married into the Medici family, essentially giving the Medici superiority. (en)

- Els Strozzi foren un llinatge florentí que originàriament va pertànyer als i que a partir del segle XIII desenvolupà un important paper en la història de Florència. Els Strozzi donaren gran nombre d'alts càrrecs a la República de Florència. A aquest llinatge va pertànyer (segle XV) Pallas Strozzi. El seu fill "el Vell", (1428-14 de maig de 1491, adquirí en la una gran fortuna amb bons negocis bancaris, i per mediació del rei de Nàpols aconseguí el permis per tornar a Florència, on el 1489 començà la construcció del palau Strozzi. Ihr Reichtum gründete sich auf Bankgeschäfte, bei ihrem politischen Engagement standen sie zumeist den Medici entgegen, und wurden von diesen mehrfach verbannt. Im 15. und 16. Jahrhundert traten die Strozzi als Mäzene auf, darüber hinaus waren Familienangehörige auf literarischem, künstlerischem und religiösem Gebiet tätig.

- Het huis Strozzi was een machtige adellijke familie uit Florence. Al in de 14e eeuw was de familie bekend om haar bijdragen aan de gemeenschap van Florence. Onder anderen Palla Strozzi (1372-1462) liet verschillende openbare en religieuze gebouwen oprichten. Zo bouwde hij de eerste openbare bibliotheek in Florence en het klooster van Santa Trinita. In 1433 speelde hij een belangrijke rol bij de verbanning van Cosimo de' Medici, maar toen deze een jaar later terugkeerde,werd hijzelf met zijn familie uit Florence verbannen. (nl)

На политическом поприще Строцци обнаружил блестящие дарования. В 1428 г. Строцци занял место во главе университета и способствовал его улучшению. Защищая свободу своей родины, Строцци боролся с Козимо Медичи и был изгнан. Он поселился в Падуе, где продолжал научные занятия и перевёл на латинский язык некоторых греческих авторов.
